It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our dear member Martha Collins
on March 15, 2026. Martha was a 32-year member of the Columbia Chapter and served
as Regent from 2010-2012. She was a passionate advocate for historic preservation
and will be deeply missed by our chapter family.
A memorial service will be held on April 2, 2026 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the DAR scholarship fund.
Due to popular demand, we have extended the RSVP deadline for the Annual Spring Luncheon
to March 30, 2026. Please contact the treasurer to reserve your spot. Guests are welcome.
Cost is $35 per person.
We are organizing a visit to the Columbia VA Medical Center on April 8 at 10:00 AM.
Volunteers are needed to visit with veterans, deliver handmade cards, and bring small
comfort items. Please sign up by contacting Susan Williams if you would like to participate.
Congratulations to our newly elected officers for the 2026-2028 term! The new leadership
team will be formally installed at the Spring Luncheon on April 19. Thank you to all who
served on the nominating committee and to our outgoing officers for their dedicated service.
Our own Jane Smith was recognized at the state level for her outstanding community service
work over the past year. Jane led our chapter's efforts in the Veterans History Project
and recorded over 20 veteran interviews. Congratulations, Jane!
Registration is now open for the South Carolina State Conference on April 17-18, 2026
in Charleston. Early bird pricing ends March 25. Contact the Regent if you plan to attend
as a chapter delegate.
